Conservatives'' Green Investment Bank could generate finance jobs
Tory proposals for the creation of a new Green Investment Bank may be good news for those seeking banking operations jobs.
Unveiled by shadow chancellor George Osborne, the Conservative Party''s proposals for investment in low-carbon technologies include the formation of a new financial services body.
According to Mr Osborne, climate change adviser Lord Stern would assist with the organisation which would combine both public and private sector funding and generate new banking jobs in London.
Speaking at the British Museum in the capital, he declared: "With the Green Investment Bank that we are announcing today and new incentives for energy efficiency investments, we can create high quality jobs and cut our emissions at the same time."
He insisted that the party, if elected, would introduce greater stability and balance to the UK economy.
The Tory scheme follows a series of government announcements regarding funding for green technology projects, including a recently-launched £125 million Environmental Investment Fund, which will be managed by Hermes Private Equity.
