"Vision and reputation" important in hiring banking executives
When employing people in executive banking jobs, specific qualities depend on particular areas of the business but a typical quality would be a "vision for how to take the business forward"
This is the opinion of Henderson Global Investors'' head of HR operations Andrew Robinson and his comments may by of interest to those seeking finance jobs in London.
Mr Robinson explained that the firm recruit executives at "different levels" and looks in particular for "existing reputation in the marketplace regarding their recent successes", in addition to "excellent communication abilities to help inspire the existing employees".
He noted that the impact of the recession has not been felt as keenly in senior positions as the supply of talent is limited and required skills can be very specific.
A recent return to economic growth during the last three months of 2009, when gross domestic product expanded by 0.1 per cent after six quarters in a row of contraction, could help to boost the number of consultancy jobs in the finance sector.
