Strong interest forecast in banking jobs

Candidates seeking finance jobs in Singapore are advised that banks have seen strong interest in vacant positions over recent months, a trend that is expected to continue this year.

This is according to a Business Times article, which noted that the bonus season has now made way for the annual hiring system.

A spokeswoman for bank DBS, Edna Koh, explained that high numbers of applications had been seen for each post in a range of sectors, including technology and banking operations jobs.

She added that the institution is planning to appoint an additional 500 people across the region.

With negotiations in 2010 focused on basic salary, the news source quoted head of personal financial services at HSBC Singapore Sebastian Arcuri as stating that a high number of quality candidates have been forthcoming and are expected in the future.

In related news, a recent report by eFinancialCareers suggested that the wealth management sector in Singapore is "definitely back in growth mode".ADNFCR-2929-ID-19592689-ADNFCR
