Demand growing for IT development professionals

A growing number of IT initiatives in the City means that more people will be required for development jobs in London, it has been claimed.

This is according to a report by efinancialcareers.co.uk, which suggested that investment banks are increasingly demanding product managers and many people are upskilling in order to meet this need.

As a result, professionals are often choosing to fund their own training in such areas in order to secure banking jobs in programme and project management, with substantial pay rises potentially available.

Mavern Training chief executive Melanie Franklin told the news source: "A couple of years ago, having a project management qualification would have given you a distinct advantage."

However, she has added that this has not become a key factor in whether or not a firm employs individuals seeking information technology jobs.

In related news, firms have been urged by the National Skills Academy for Financial Services to target school leavers with banking jobs in London and provide apprenticeships in order to make the most of young talent.ADNFCR-2929-ID-19589484-ADNFCR
