Singapore ''set to see jobs growth''
There looks set to be significant growth in the number of finance jobs in Singapore, it has been suggested.
Although some 300 private bankers working in the wealth management sector were lost between 2007 and 2009 as the downturn peaked, an eFinancialCareers article notes the industry is "definitely back in growth mode".
Indeed, Ronald Ong, chairman and chief executive for south-east Asia at Morgan Stanley, claims this sector will be one that the firm is particularly keen on increasing its workforce in.
"We are in the market for talent to support our growth plans," D M Arulraj, regional head of human resource at Standard Chartered Bank for Singapore and south-east Asia, adds.
Although it was suggested some areas will expand at a faster rate than others, it was claimed all of the bank''s departments should see an increase in workers, with operations and support positions among those due to rise.
The publication recently noted that compliance jobs could prove to be a particularly suitable role to seek out for bankers wishing to relocate from Britain to Asia.
