Bank chiefs in Singapore ''among highest paid''
The chief executives of three banks based in Singapore are among the highest paid of those working in similar positions in Asia, it has been revealed.
A check carried out by the Straits Times compared the salaries of the leaders of DBS Group Holdings, OCBC Bank and United Overseas Bank with their counterparts at Standard Chartered Bank, JP Morgan Chase, ANZ Group, Hang Seng Bank, Clicks Internet Banking Malaysia)and Maybank.
The newspaper - an English-language broadsheet based in the city state - found that the three men with finance jobs in Singapore fared well last year when held up against their peers.
In comparing the professionals, a number of criteria was used by the newspaper, including that the banks must have a significant presence in Asia and that they should include retail operations, in addition to investment and corporate.
Siobhan Cummins, partner at Mercer, recently told the Financial Times that Singapore is proving particularly popular with expats looking to move overseas to work in the financial services sector.
