Are more finance jobs in London being taken up as employment rate rises?

New research has revealed an increase in the number of Britons that are in work.

Figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that the employment rate among 16 to 64-year-olds during the three-month period ending February 28th stood at 70.7 per cent, a rise of 0.2 per cent from the previous quarter.

With such findings potentially indicating an increase in the number of finance jobs in London being taken, it was revealed that the number of people in work has increased by 143,000 to stand at 29.23 million.

The ONS also reports that total pay, including bonuses, has risen two per cent on an annual basis.

Employment minister Chris Grayling claims the increase in full-time employment is "good news".

Last month, a Bloomberg article claimed that the financial services sector continues to create employment opportunities, as the rest of the UK "struggles" to recover from the impact of the financial crisis.ADNFCR-2929-ID-800498155-ADNFCR
