RBC Capital Markets make investment banking job in London hire

RBC Capital Markets has appointed Kevin Smith to lead its European mergers and acquisitions (M&A) interests.

The organisation, which is the corporate and investment banking division of the Royal Bank of Canada, notes Mr Smith will become a managing director and take responsibility for leading and developing M&A capabilities across all the firm's industry sectors in the UK and mainland Europe.

Patrick Meier, head of European investment banking for RBC Capital Markets, states: "Kevin is one of the most widely-respected M&A practitioners in London and as such we are delighted to welcome such a high calibre individual to our European platform."

But this is not the first time Mr Smith has had experience of investment banking jobs in London, as he was previously the global head of Standard Chartered's Oil & Gas Advisory service and head of UK M&A for Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Earlier this month, RBC Capital Markets appointed Stephen Krag as chief financial officer of its European operations, who previously held the same position at Daiwa Capital Markets Europe. Like Mr Smith, he will be based in London.ADNFCR-2929-ID-800498182-ADNFCR
