Metro Bank to push recruitment in London
New high street outlets being opened by financial group Metro Bank could be good news for those seeking employment in the capital.
Up to 100
banking jobs in London could be created by the new company, which opened its first branch in Holborn in July and is set to launch a further three, as it believes that customer demand will continue to rise.
It is positioning itself as a retail version of traditional banking services in the UK and hopes to double the number of people it employs as consumers switch over to Metro.
"Our customers clearly agree with us and have been voting with their feet, which is why we saw them willingly queue to open Metro Bank accounts at the launch of our Holborn store in July," said Craig Donaldson, chief executive of Metro Bank.
Scotland's first minister Alex Salmond recently announced that Barclays is set to create new jobs in Glasgow, which could hint at the start of a UK-wide drive.
