Technology jobs in banking in London ''sought from other sectors''

The investment banking sector is looking outside of the industry to find people with skills in technology, it has been said.

In what could be good news for those seeking technology jobs in banking in London, eFinancial Careers suggests that knowledge of the finance industry is no longer being sought by employers needing staff for IT work.

One IT in finance headhunter told the news provider that banks are looking to "poach" some of the best talent from the technology sector in order to boost their operations and inject some new blood into their organisations.

"These [jobs] are predominantly around programme management within applications and infrastructure, development heads for non-product aligned areas and a lot of e-commerce client technology," he explained.

Paul Clarke from eFinancial Careers recently claimed that poor figures for financial IT jobs in the first half of 2010, due to the recession, will be turned around in the next six months.
