Ethics ''an important part of banking jobs in London''
Positive ethical and community values are becoming of increasing importance to Britons when it comes to choosing financial products.
Indeed, those with
banking jobs in London may wish to push such issues further up the agenda, after Rachel Le Brocq, press and public affairs manager at the Building Societies Association, said building societies and mutuals may be in a better position in this respect than some PLC banks.
"They are not driven by pressure to deliver maximised profits as the banks are so it enables them to run on lower costs and offer these better levels of service really," she explained.
Ms Le Brocq added that many building societies and mutuals "take pride" in supporting their community groups and any local causes.
Following the recession, she explained that such financial services provider remain well capitalised and are looking forward to a positive future.
Her comments come after the Future of Banking Commission claimed that the financial services sector is "structurally flawed".
