Finance jobs in London ''difficult to fill''

Employers have reported difficulties in finding suitable candidates for a range of positions, a new study has revealed.

Finance jobs in London and the rest of the UK were cited as particularly challenging in the latest Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and KPMG Labour Market Outlook survey.

According to the data, 18 per cent of hiring managers said accountancy and finance jobs lacked skilled professionals, while a similar amount remarked IT workers are hard to come by.

These gaps are being filled by migrant workers, the report claimed, with CIPD public policy adviser Gerwyn Davies saying it puts the government in a hard place.

He commented: "The proposed introduction of a migration cap comes at a time when many employers are still struggling to fill skilled vacancies."

The news followed recent figures from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, which showed business confidence in Britain is beginning to stabilise. ADNFCR-2929-ID-800039528-ADNFCR
