Brits ''should know what they need when moving for finance jobs in Hong Kong''

Those planning a move overseas for work should think carefully about what they might need, an expert has suggested.

In advice that may assist those seeking finance jobs in Hong Kong, BuyAssociation editor Paul Collins recommended having an independent lawyer when dealing with transactions in another language and advised those shifting their lives abroad not to sign anything they are unable to understand.

"People need to make sure they are covered health-wise, in terms of private healthcare or public healthcare," he explained, adding that individuals may find they miss family members more than expected or struggle to fit into local culture.

"Be as careful as you would in the UK and you should be OK," Mr Collins concluded.

His remarks follow figures published by the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department showing that the unemployment rate for the jurisdiction remained steady between April and June 2010 at 4.6 per cent.
