Is there change ahead for investment banking jobs?

Developments in the political landscape could be affecting the investment banking sector, a new report has suggested.

The 33rd quarterly Financial Activity Barometer by John Gilbert Financial Research (JGFR) showed the "enormous change" seen in the government''s structure over the last three months has led to a shift in behavioural trends across the industry.

Those in investment banking jobs were advised that optimism "has held up well", despite fluctuations in the stock markets, with equities proving particularly popular.

It added: "The JGFR Equity Buying Intentions Index is at its highest since June
2007."

According to the statistics, this improvement is in addition to the sharp surge in investor confidence experienced throughout the last quarter.

However, the organisation admitted financial activity this summer may be more subdued overall than in the spring.

In 2009, JGFR stated equity investor sentiment improved in the second quarter of the year, with government and corporate bonds demand reaching "near record levels".
