Risk: Capital Markets: Head of Operational Risk
A major investment bank contacted Astbury Marsden because it was having problems finding a Head of Operational Risk. It had been looking contingently through a number of agencies, without success. The skills required for the role were relatively unusual, covering asset management and insurance, as well as investment banking. Thanks to our intimate understanding of the risk market we were able to quickly identify and map competitor firms which employed this kind of specialist skill set. We approached 40 people in total, of whom 20 were relevant to the role.
Within weeks, we reduced this to a short list of six candidates. The Client invited four to interview and ultimately selected a regional Head of Operational Risk at a global investment bank. He had begun his career in asset management at another institution, and had additional insurance experience.
The client was more than happy with our contribution, and we continue to work with them today.
